Mouth Artist from South Korea
Sung-Yae Kim was born in Cheongsong on 12 January 1947. She completed both her primary and secondary school education. Sung-Yae began suffering from rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 27. Her illness became dramatically worse, however, so that she was permanently confined to a wheelchair at the age of 30. Initially, she still painted with her hands. However, as her condition noticeably deteriorated, she was eventually no longer able to use her hands. She began to paint with her mouth in 1993. Sung-Yae preferred to paint both in oils and watercolours. Sung-Yae Kim passed away on 4 August 2017.
